Bio

I have always been that smart, nerdy girl who has her nose in a book a lot of the time.  I worked hard in high school to do my very best which landed me at the top of my senior class.  The hard work continued at Angelo State University where I graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics with Secondary Certification.  I have been a secondary math teacher going into my 17th year now.  I have taught everything from 8th grade math up to calculus.  This year, I am teaching Algebra 1 and Algebra 2.  In August 2020, I stepped out of my comfort zone to start on a Master's program in Digital Learning and Leading through Lamar University.  I am now ending that part of my journey with a M.Ed. in Applied Digital Learning after switching to the newer program towards the end of my time. I did this to help figure out how to teach digitally in the ever changing world, but I learned a lot more than that. I've learned that I now would like to focus on finding new ways to help with teaching math that are student centered. I also now want to become a leader maybe outside the classroom that can help coach other teachers on bringing in more blended learning to the classroom.

I got married in June 2020 to my husband Walter. His son, Cody, makes up our little household along with our dogs, Joey and Lily.  Walter has figured out how being a teacher's husband can be and all that I deal with from day to day. Cody is adjusting to being a teacher's kid slowly but surely. His third grade self doesn't like it when I have to stay after school to help students or deal with other things.  Thanks to my hubby, I am now a big Star Wars fan to add to my love for Harry Potter (which I made him watch in return).
